Vintage Ernie's Restaurant, San Francisco Domed Food Cover

This scarce piece was my first piece of hotel silver purchase. It's a vintage silverplate dome food cover from Ernie's Restaurant.

Ernie's (1900–1995) was a restaurant in San Francisco. It began as a modest family-style Italian trattoria around the turn of the 20th century. It was located near the notorious Barbary Coast area of the city. In the 1950s, it became known as a luxurious restaurant serving mostly traditional French cuisine.

This gorgeous dome has "Ernie's" on the side. The dome has a fancy handle and rim. It is in gorgeous condition with a gleaming bright patina. Some faint surface scratches.

It measures 15-1/2" long by 10-3/4" wide and stands approx. 6-1/2" tall to the top of the handle.

Manufactured by International Silver Company and dated 1960.

A rare San Francisco keepsake from one of it's finest restaurants.
