Early Victorian Waterloo Officer's Sabretache Desk Caddy

Fabulous early Victorian dark brown velvet desk caddy with an officer's sabretache from Waterloo.

A sabretache is a flat, leather bag or pouch that was worn by cavalry soldiers and horse artillery officers to carry their orders and maps. This one in metallic thread has been attached to the caddy.

The caddy is shaped like a treasure chest and measures 8-1/2" wide by 4-3/8" wide and stands approx. 7" tall. It opens to hold letters, etc.

It's in excellent condition and missing key.
