Large 1920s 16" Mark Hopkins Hotel, San Francisco Crested Footed Platter

From my personal collection, an extraordinary rare silver plate crested footed serving platter from the Mark Hopkins Hotel atop San Francisco's Nob Hill.

This deep platter has fancy Mark Hopkins crested tab handles. Really striking in person. The platter dates to 1926, the year the hotel opened.

It has a beautiful patina and a nice reticulated edge. It measures 19-1/2" from handle to handle and 16-1/4" long not including the handle. It is approx. 2" deep.

Manufactured by Gorham and stamped, "Mark Hopkins 1926".
