Large 19th C. French Beveled Glass Tufted Raspberry Velvet Jewelry Box Vitrine
Photos don't do justice to this amazing large 19th century French beveled glass and tufted velvet jewelry box/vitrine. Purchased from a longtime collector of antique French vitrines.
The box has a gilt metal frame with fancy feet. The panes of glass are beveled and the interior is a lovely tufted raspberry velvet with gilt flower accents.
These type of boxes would have been originally used for a bride to keep her bridal belongings such as the tiara and the flower bouquet she used on the wedding day. It now functions as a spectacular jewelry or keepsake box.
It measures 7" long by 5-1/2" deep and stands 5-1/2" tall. Superb condition with no chips or cracks. The velvet looks amazing with some fading in areas.
A glorious 19th century piece from a private collection!
