Massive Vivian Della Chiesa Opera Singer Painted Portrait
This beautiful 1940s large vintage portrait is of the famous Vivian Della Chiesa. She has graced my living room for over two decades.
Vivian Della Chiesa (October 9, 1915 – January 6, 2009) was an American lyric soprano who achieved a high level of popularity in the United States singing on the radio during the 1940s and the early 1950s. Della Chiesa performed a wide variety of classical and popular works from opera to musical theatre, jazz, and popular songs.
I fell in love with her at first sight when I saw her in an antique store. I purchased her because of her beauty and large scale. She just jumped out at me.
I have always felt that large pieces of art makes a small room appear larger. This portrait including the frame measures a whopping 67" tall by a bit over 48" wide.
She has been featured in numerous publications and books, including Hers, Romantic Homes and more. You can view them in our press section.
The portrait is over painted by watercolor and oil on the portrait and housed in a gilt wood frame. There are some small areas of wear that were like that when I purchased her.
The back of the portrait shows "Cincinnati Summer Opera" and was given to Ms. Chiesa.
Due to the scale of this portrait, it will have to ship freight or can be picked up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please contact us in advance.
This is a chance to own a magical piece of art with a great provenance.
