Rare 19th c. French Curved Glass Tufted Casket Jewelry Box

Absolutely stunning large c. 1880s antique French curved glass jewelry box with gilt decoration. This is one of the most beautiful and unusual boxes that we've ever acquired.

The box has a rare curved glass lid with fancy gilt ormolus on the front. It opens to a tufted red velvet interior which is in excellent condition. There are brass florettes in the tufting.

The box measures 7-1/2" tall by 8-1/2" long and 6-1/2" deep. Quite striking in person!

This box could be used to hold a variety of treasures, or simply use as a magnificent display piece.
