19th Century Paper Mache Inlaid Mother of Pearl Writing Lap Desk

Beautiful 19th century English black paper mache ladies writing slope/desktop with gold painted accents and hand painted flowers setting off inlaid mother of pearl flowers. The ornate gilt accents and hand painting is exquisite against the mother of pearl.

The interior opens to a flat surface is lined with black leather and includes three compartments for pens and what would have been inkwells. It has a lock, but key not included.

When closed it measures 10-1/2" long by 8-1/2" wide and stands 3-1/2" tall. Excellent condition with two small nips of wood on two corners.
