Vintage California Zephyr Railroad Silver Plate Porcelain Teapot

Wonderful vintage silver plate and porcelain teapot from the California Hotel Zephyr railroad company.

Per Wikipedia: The California Zephyr was operated by three major railroad lines: Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q), Denver & Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW), and Western Pacific Railroad (WP). California Zephyr trains ran between Chicago and Oakland. Amid much fanfare and publicity, the California Zephyr was inaugurated on March 20, 1949. It was discontinued in March 1970 – the only one of the three trains not still operating when Amtrak took over service.

This pretty teapot is an ivory color in a silver plated frame. It measures 4-3/4" tall and 6" from handle to spout. Superb condition with no chips or cracks.

Made by the International Silver Company and is dated 1960. It is clearly marked inside its lid, with the intertwined C Z logo. The porcelain is made by Hall.

A superb piece of railroad silver!
